OCD and Anxiety Therapy on the Main Line
Life on the Main Line, one of the best-known areas within Philadelphia’s western suburbs, often comes with high expectations.
Demanding careers and academics, family responsibilities, active social lives, and pressure to succeed can make it seem as though you should have everything under control. From the outside, it may look like you are managing it all, but internally, you may feel completely different.

Are you or a family member experiencing anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or relationship challenges? Or is the pressure to be perfect taking up too much space in your life?

I’m Dr. Matthew Siegel, a licensed clinical psychologist providing OCD therapy and anxiety therapy for teens and adults living on the Main Line and throughout the Philadelphia suburbs. I offer secure telehealth appointments across Pennsylvania. Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your teenager, or your family, the wait is over. Help is here.

How Can Therapy Help Adults With Anxiety on the Main Line?
High-pressure careers can make anxiety look like dedication. You may work longer, prepare more thoroughly, check every detail, or replay conversations in your head. Even if those habits lead to success, they leave you drained and unable to enjoy your accomplishments.

Achievement opens important doors, but it does not protect you from anxiety, OCD, depression, self-doubt, or interpersonal stress. Therapy gives you a private place to step outside the pressures of daily life and develop tools to pursue what matters without becoming mentally exhausted.

Are you or a family member suffering from…
-
Constant worry about work, school, relationships, health, or the future?
-
Pressure to meet your own or other people’s expectations?
-
Difficulty relaxing without feeling guilty or unproductive?
-
Fear of making a mistake, disappointing someone, or falling behind?
-
Intrusive thoughts that feel upsetting or inconsistent with who you are?
-
Conflict with a partner, family member, friend, or colleague?
-
Burnout, irritability, insomnia, or difficulty being present?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, therapy could be a life-changing next step. With the right support, you can respond to the stress in your life with greater clarity and confidence.

Can Therapy Help Teens On The Main Line?

Teens attending competitive public or private schools may feel that they are always being evaluated. Grades, course placement, test scores, sports, extracurricular activities, social expectations, and college plans can make it difficult to feel as though they are ever doing enough.

Anxiety in teens often appears as:
-
Excessive studying or repeatedly redoing assignments
-
Procrastination caused by fear of getting something wrong
-
Panic before tests, presentations, performances, or competitions
-
Frequent requests for reassurance from parents or teachers
-
Physical complaints, trouble sleeping, or difficulty attending school
-
Irritability, withdrawal, or conflict at home
-
Comparing themselves constantly with classmates
-
Avoiding new challenges unless success feels guaranteed
-
Feeling that their worth depends on their achievements

If you’re a teen struggling with anxiety, don’t let it hold you back from the future you want. Know that it’s possible to reach your goals when you can properly manage your anxiety.

Therapy helps you develop a healthier relationship with school, manage OCD or anxiety more effectively, and take meaningful action even when you feel uncertain. These skills can support your well-being now and as you grow into adulthood.

Therapy for OCD, Anxiety and Depression Along the Main Line
Licensed Clinical Psychologist Serving Philadelphia Suburbs
I’m Dr. Matthew Siegel. I have experience working with children, teenagers, and adults, and I currently provide therapy for teens and adults experiencing OCD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum differences, identity concerns, and related challenges.
In addition to earning my master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Widener University, I am also a certified school psychologist in Pennsylvania. My doctoral dissertation examined stress levels among high-achieving high school students, further informing my understanding of the unique pressures and challenges that can accompany academic achievement.

I’ve both worked and trained on the Main Line at Haverford College Counseling and Psychological Services, Penncrest High School, and a private practice in Haverford. I also completed my postdoctoral residency at the Anxiety & OCD Center in Malvern and continued working there as a licensed psychologist through 2024.

These experiences have given me insight into the pressures affecting people who live, work, and attend school along the Main Line. My approach is compassionate, practical, and grounded in evidence-based treatment. We don’t just talk about what is wrong. I give you the tools and understanding to make meaningful changes.
How Will Evidence-Based Therapy Help Main Line Families?
I am an integrative psychologist, which means I tailor therapy to your personal needs rather than relying on a single method for every concern. My work commonly incorporates:
Online OCD & Anxiety Therapy In Philadelphia & 43+ States

I provide secure telehealth sessions throughout Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia, its surrounding suburbs, and communities along the Main Line such as Overbrook, Bala Cynwyd, Merion, Penn Valley, Narberth, Wynnewood, Ardmore, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Gladwyne, Rosemont, Villanova, Radnor, St. Davids, Devon, Berwyn, and Malvern.

Online therapy makes it easier to attend sessions around school, work, extracurriculars, and family responsibilities. Online sessions are flexible, convenient, and proven to be just as effective as in-person therapy, especially for OCD and other anxiety disorders.

Feel More In Control Today!
You and your family are capable, driven, and successful, but you still deserve support. Therapy helps you pursue meaningful goals without being controlled by anxiety, perfectionism, or fear.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation for teens, adults, and parents seeking therapy for OCD, anxiety, and depression. Whether you live on the Main Line, elsewhere in the Philadelphia area, or in another state where I’m authorized to practice, we can discuss your goals during a free 15-minute consultation and determine whether my approach feels like the right fit.
Do You Provide Therapy for Both Teens and Adults on the Main Line?
Yes. I provide OCD therapy, anxiety therapy, and related mental health support for adolescents and adults living on the Main Line. Treatment is tailored to your age, concerns, responsibilities, and goals. When working with teens, I may also involve parents when appropriate and helpful.
How Can I Tell Whether My Teen Needs Therapy?
It may be helpful to consider therapy if anxiety or emotional distress regularly interferes with your teenager’s school attendance, sleep, friendships, or ability to enjoy daily life. Your child doesn’t need to be in a crisis to benefit from therapy. Remember that sometimes teens are very good at masking symptoms.
Can Therapy Help My Teen With Pressures At School?
Yes. Therapy can help teens manage academic stress, perfectionism, anxiety about grades, fear of failure, and the pressure to meet high expectations. Treatment can help your teen develop healthier ways to cope with stress, manage overwhelming expectations, and approach school with greater confidence and flexibility.
Can I Receive Support As A Parent, Too?
Of course. I work with teenagers and their parents so they can overcome obstacles as a family. I can help you understand your child’s anxiety, OCD, ADHD, autism, or emotional challenges and develop more effective ways to support them. Depending on your family ’s needs, this may include individual parent sessions, joint sessions with you and your teen, or parent involvement in your teen’s treatment.
What If My Intrusive Thoughts Feel Shameful?
It’s common for intrusive thoughts to involve harm, morality, religion, sexuality, or even subjects that feel taboo. If you find that your intrusive thoughts deeply upset you, know that it does not mean that you want them to happen or that it reflects your character. I provide a private, nonjudgmental environment where you can discuss these experiences and find relief.
What Should I Expect During the First Therapy Session?
The first session gives us time to discuss your current concerns, relevant history, and what you would like to change. I will ask questions to better understand the patterns affecting your life and begin identifying an individualized treatment plan. Depending on your needs, treatment may incorporate ERP, CBT, ACT, or a combination of approaches.
How Do I Get Started With You?
You can begin by scheduling a free 15-minute phone consultation. We will briefly discuss what you or your teen has been experiencing, answer your initial questions, and determine whether my approach may be a good fit.
