ADHD & Executive Functioning Evaluations in Philadelphia, PA
If you, your teenager, or your child have been struggling with focus, organization, school performance, or follow-through, you may have wondered: “Is this ADHD, or something else?”
That question is more common than you might think.
I’m Dr. Matt Siegel, and I provide ADHD and executive functioning evaluations for children, adolescents, teenagers, and adults in Philadelphia, PA. My goal is not only to determine whether ADHD is present, but also to clarify the full picture of attention, learning, and executive functioning strengths and challenges.
Do I or My Child Need an ADHD Evaluation?

An ADHD and executive functioning evaluation is a comprehensive assessment that looks at how someone thinks, learns, and functions in daily life.
Executive functioning includes skills like attention, focus, time management, task initiation, and emotional regulation. When executive functioning is limited, it can affect nearly every part of your life, from school and work to relationships and daily life.
If you answer yes to several of the following questions, an evaluation can help provide clarity to you or your family:
-
Do I (or my child) have trouble focusing, even when it really matters?
-
Do tasks feel harder to start or finish than they should?
-
Am I often overwhelmed by responsibilities that seem manageable for others?
-
Do I struggle with organization, time management, or follow-through?
-
Have teachers, coworkers, or family members noticed ongoing challenges?
-
Do I feel capable but consistently underperforming?
-
Could anxiety, stress, or something else be playing a role in these difficulties?
Sometimes, what looks like ADHD may involve other factors, like anxiety or emotional stress, which is why a thorough, thoughtful assessment is so important.
ADHD Testing For Children, Adolescents, and Adults In Philadelphia
As a licensed clinical psychologist and certified school psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania, I work with children, teenagers, and adults throughout Philadelphia and surrounding areas.
ADHD Assessments For Children & Adolescents
For parents and caregivers in Philadelphia, my role is to help you make sense of your child’s challenges. If you notice your child is struggling in school despite putting in the effort or exhibits emotional or behavioral challenges, an ADHD assessment could prove very useful.
ADHD Assessments For College Students & Young Adults
I also work with teenagers and young adults throughout Philadelphia who are trying to better understand why things feel harder than they should. I also work with young adults transitioning into the workforce who are noticing challenges with organization, time management, or follow-through, as well as adults who have spent years managing these difficulties without clear answers.
ADHD Assessments For Adults
Sometimes ADHD and executive functioning goes undiagnosed until adulthood. Many of the individuals I see are thoughtful, capable, and motivated, but feel stuck or frustrated because something isn’t clicking the way it should. If you’re experiencing ongoing challenges at work or at home, an assessment can give you the clarity you’re looking for.
My Approach To ADHD Assessments
Dr. Matt Siegel, Psy. D. In Philadelphia, PA
There are many options for testing in Philadelphia, but not all evaluations are the same. Here’s how I approach my work and help you understand yourself or your child better:
-
Thorough, Thoughtful Assessments. I spend significant time ensuring your results are accurate, clearly explained, clinically sound, and useful in real-world situations.
-
Targeted, But Comprehensive. I don’t believe in over-testing or using unnecessary measures. Instead, I focus on your concerns, select assessments intentionally, and ensure I’m answering all your referral questions fully.
-
A Holistic View Of Executive Functioning. Not every attention or performance difficulty is ADHD. During your evaluation, I consider a range of contributing factors, including executive functioning, cognitive abilities, learning differences, and emotional variables such as anxiety or stress. This ensures an accurate understanding of what is driving the challenges you or your child are experiencing.

What The Evaluation Process Looks Like
I aim to make the process clear, structured, and as comfortable as possible. This process is an investment, but by the end, you can expect clarity, insight, and validation as well as specific, actionable strategies to improve your life and move forward with confidence.
1. Initial Consultation
We begin with a brief consultation to understand your concerns and determine if we’re a good fit.
2. Clinical Interviews & Record Reviews
If we’re a good fit, I’ll then move into interviews to get a clear picture of who you are. For adults, I’ll interview you individually. With children, adolescents, and teenagers, I’ll conduct both an interview with the child and the parent separately.
When appropriate, I may also gather input from teachers, therapists, or other providers. And, if available, I review past evaluations, school records, and other relevant documentation.
3. Testing Session(s)
Comprehensive evaluations typically take 6–8 hours, though this can vary depending on your needs. Testing may occur in one day or across multiple sessions.
5. Scoring & Report Writing
I spend significant time analyzing results and preparing a detailed, professional report. We review your results together and discuss clear, actionable next steps.
